Lost in Place |
Is it worth taking a sleeping bag or sheet sleeping bag for a trip round SE Asia?
I have read that some of the cheaper guesthouses do not supply bedding. |

Don't take a sleeping bag.
It is just too hot as hell to be sleeping in a sleeping bag in SE Asia. With the exception of one grotty place just off of Khao San Road (the excreable 'New Joe's Guesthouse'), the sheets and pillow cases have always been clean in guesthouses where I have stayed. At the very most, take along a Sleepsack (I recommend the Dream Sack). |

Knows What a Schengen Visa Is |
all the people i knew in SEA who had brought sleeping bags kicked themselves over it. once again, i would recommend bringing a sarong, which can double as a sheet if you do happen to be skeeved out by your bedding (which is almost always provided). but most people in south east asia seem to be fairly obsessed with cleanliness, and in over about 5 months in the region, i can only recall a few unclean beds. mostly, i was surprised by the almost pristine state of beds in $3/night rooms.

Almost the same question - is it worth taking a sleeping bag Round the World? I will hopefully be going to Costa Rica, Cook Islands, NZ, Australia, India and Nepal from around February to May.
