So today I was at the do-it yourself store and ran across some microfiber towel-like pieces of cloth. By weight and size they really reminded me of pack-towels, but at a fraction of the price. Does anyone know if these things have a real disadvantage in comparison? I don't care if my towel was made for wiping cars or humans as long as it does the job.

I found something similar at McGuckin and have used them for the same purpose. I find they work just as well. The only problem? The ones I found are bright pink. Why on earth they're bright pink, and sold in a hardware store no less, I have no idea.

Costco carries them. Theirs are orange.

Gotta say though, if you get salt water on them they will stay damp for ages. Ultra moisture attracting, lay them out in the sun and they'll dry out... but by morning they are damp again.
