Another good website for related to Guatemala is www.xelapages.com The page has really comprehensive information about Quetzaltenango, aka 'Xela' (the 2nd biggest city and tourism center) I have no connection with the site, but I did spent three weeks studying spanish in Xela and I can vouch that the info on the site is impeccable.

Always looking for good info on the Guate situation. Keep your eyes open. Can't wait to hear from people.

As for the Peten region in Guate. My friends in San Andres say that there is nothing to worry about. That all are being treated well. (okay, they do say that they are ever being ripped off ,but that is the traveller's fault! Wise up dumbo!!!)
