Does anybody know if the road from Quepos to Dominical in Costa Rica is paved yet? It's supposedly been in the works for quite some time now....

Thanks.

David, I just ran across your post but my reply may be too late to help you out. However, it sounds as though things are finally happening with the road. Construction is expected to take three years and here's a link to one of the best articles I've read: http://www.welovecostarica.com/public/1191.cfm?sd=2

I last drove Quepos to Dominical in August 2006 and the good news is that Portalon now has a new bridge over its river. It was a bit dicey driving through the river during times of heavy rain when the bridge was out. You should be fine as long as you're driving a 4WD. The town of Portalon, along with its bridge, was pretty much wiped out in September 2005 by floods.

Safe travels,

SEB
