I posted this on Go to Nicaragua and LP but thought I would post it here also.I am trying to get as much fedback as possible from people who have traveled in Nicaragua. After reading everything I have come up with a tentative schedule for late April, early May. I would like some feedback- both on timing, choices and places to stay- Also,I hate to make too many reservations since it locks us in- are there any of these places that I really need reservations for?

Revised itinerary:
Day One-Fly to Managua- arrive 11:30am Bus to Granada-explore city(Night either Hotel Dorado or La Siesta)

Day Two-Explore White Villages –Masaya market -Night Tour Masaya Volcano- Possibly with Tierra tours or hire a driver??

Day Three-morning-kayak Isleta( can we rent kayaks for this or do we need to hire a guide?) leave around noon and bus to San Juan Del Sur on the Pacific side-explore the beaches and spend the night there.(Casa Del Oro)

Day Four & Five Boat or ferry to Isla De Ometepe spend two days exploring islands. (stay at Casa Hotel Istiam-) explore various reserves including Charco Verde by foot and kayak. Xplore Pre-columbian museum and sites; Istian River kayaking; possible hike to San Ramon waterfall- possibly bike around island

Day Six-boat back to mainland-return to Managua- Possibly try to fit a trip to Isle Zapetera either here or before we leave Granada on day three- take the night bus to El Rama(any chance of actually getting sleep on this trip?)

Day Seven- early morning boat to Bluefields-spend afternoon exploring and spend night there. Recomendation?

Day Eight- boat to Laguna De Perlas spend night there

Day Nine boat back to Bluefields and fly to Big Corn Island that afternoon-bus around the Island- boat to Little Corn Island- stay at either Carlitos or one of the ones on the north end.

Days Ten through Twelve spend three days exploring island snorkeling and at least two dives

Day Thirteen- 7am boat to Corn Island- Fly to Managua night in Managua-Nicaraguan Guest House
Day 15- return to States on 7am flight

Interestingly, I find I have an extra day- where should I put it? I am thinking either at San Juan del Sur or Ometepe.
