Hello! I was just wondering what people's recommendations would be for some All Inclusives in Costa Rica. We would like something that would be easy to access other places and would have the beach and adventure activites for us. This will be for our Honeymoon in October. We have been looking into the Guanacaste area, specifically the Occidental Grand Papagayo and the (now) Hilton Papagayo, formerly the Fiesta Premier. Any thoughts on those? I've heard some seriously mixed reviews on Occidental that worries me. Any other suggestions? Other areas I should look into with All Inclusives?

If anyone has other suggestions for our trip that are not AIs, they are more than welcome! Thanks so much!

Can't say that I have much experience with all-inclusives here in CR. I did have some friends stay at the Fiesta (pre-Hilton days) and they enjoyed it. Haven't heard anything re: Occidental Grand Papagayo.

If you are not absolutely set on an all-inclusive kind of place then check out the somewhat more modest Hotel Bula Bula http://www.hotelbulabula.com/ We stay there whenever we are in the area - 1 or 2 times a year. Nice food, really good bar and close to lots of stuff.

One point I should mention: if you are looking for a "Costa Rican experience" you will not find it at either place. The Hilton is a tailored experience, as it should be, and the Bula is, as well as just being a nice hotel, a place where many other Americans gather.
