Armchair Traveler |
Hi all, I will be in Costa Rica with two other guys May 22 to 26. We are looking to get into the jungle do some canopy touring, maybe some rafting, rappelling, whatever. We've been looking at the Selva Bananito Lodge and Preserve, and also at the Arenal region.
Can anybody make some good recommendations? We're looking to be adventurous and make the most of our short stay without completely breaking the bank account. Thanks! Oliver PS: yes I have read the "7 days in CR" story from BootsnAll |

Looking for the Signpost Up Ahead |
Heading down to Quepos is not such a bad idea. It is very close to Manuel Antonio and a fairly interesting town. There are canopy tours. There is some surfing. You can get cold beer and it ain't deathly far from San Jose (Though, technically, nothing is that far away from San Jose)
There are also small villages between there and Jaco (Oh, I am sure you've heard enough about Jaco) that will give you some local flavour. Have a good trip D Okay...Where next...? |

You might want to try
coasttocoastadventures.com in San Jose. There number is (506) 280-8054. They can take you trekking or mountain biking also they will take you on a overnight rafting trip through the jungle on the river Paquare. It starts in lets of near Limon and I worked it out so that from there I picked up a car (or you could probably find a bus, Mike the owner could probably help you out with that info) headed down to Cahuita for a day and then Puerto Viejo. Two very laid back Caribbean towns with some interesting cultue and characters. Great reggae club in Puerto Viejo and you can surf in both places. I don't know that you will have time to hit up both towns as it's a days drive back to San Jose but if I had to pick between the two, Puerto Viejo! Hope you have a great time! RT |

I just noticed my typing errors (that's what I get for not proof reading) I'm trying to say the river trip will let you off near the town of Limon (not too safe and no reason to stay) also since I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to computers sorry I could not link the address for you.

Monteverde cloud forest is nice, but be aware it is small enough to hike every trail in one day. I was there the same time of year as you're going, and a steady downpour kept most of the other people but for five other fanatics out of the park, which was nice for me. I hear many days, it's more of a crowd forest than a cloud forest. On the canopy tours, don't expect a big nature tour. The main idea is to zing you along the lines for thrills.
UBBCode? What the heck is a UBBCode? |
