How much time do you have? What's your buget like?

I did both last summer. I took a local bus, it was cheap and wasn't that far. I personaly liked Tikal more, but they're much different.
Honduras had some great scuba diving and I had a great time in Guatemala. I don't know enough about your trip or intrests to tell you what would make a better trip. Belize is right next to Tikal and that's a lot of fun too! Let us know some details of your trip and more people will help out.

Peace.

My friends and I don't really know where exactly to go. We are not your average backpackers/travelers. This will be our first time exploring an unknown territory. We have time, but not much money. We don't even know if we are are in head over our heels with this traveling we want to do. But, we hear about others doing it on a low budget, so we thought, why not give it a try. We don't know enough about the surrounding areas of Guat. & Belize to actually pinpoint where it is we want to go. We just want to for sure see Tikal and dive a few dives in Belize. If it's possible for us to go other places where we can afford to get home to Utila, then we are all for going!

I did the same thing last summer, alone. I guarantee you'll have a killer time. Belize in general is more expensive than Guat. or Hon. and the diveing in Honduras (Roatan) is half price or less. I was more impressed with the dives in Honduras also. Either way you WILL love it.

Peace.

What's up BigL?
I didn't write anything down, but I'll tell you what I remember.......woops forgot!! J/K!! I flew in to Guat city (wich sucks) then went to Antigua, then Pana Hachel(Lake Attitlan) lots and lots of fun. From there I took a shuttle back to Guat city to transfer to a big bus that took me to Flores. I can't belive I remember all this!! Anyway, Flores is where most people stay to go to Tikal (it's much cheaper and it's not far at all) got stuck there longer than I planed do to a big ass demonstration/riot thingie. From there took a cheap bus to Belize, ended up on Cay Calker (spl?) then back to San Ignasio (spl?), got stuck there do to crazy flooding(but had a lot of fun)! Then took a shuttle (like a mini van) with 5000 people in it to Copan. Got of at the wrong stop on the way (no habla espanol). From there went to San Pedro Sula or Zoola as I like to call it. Then to Roatan, then back to the Zoo, then home. Damn my brain hurts(fingers too)! Ok I tried to help out my fellow BAA people. I did it from word of mouth and I had a great time. I don't know what your budget is like, but if it's really tight then spend most of your time in Guat/Hon. If you're haveing a great time in one place than stay TILL YOUR SICK OF IT! Your best time won't be in Tikal or Copan(even though they're the best sites you'll see. That's all, hope I helped!

Peace.
