Hi All:

I will be heading off to Costa Rica on the spur of the moment...Will be there for only 12 days : ( But hey better than nothing...Does anyone have any recommendations for some sort of itinerary that would let me make the best use of my time there? Generally I usually just travel as I go but I want to get to experience as must as CR as possible...

Brandon's guide to
Costa Rica seems to be a hit among travelers looking for good online info.

If your not already there... I just got back in early April from a 6 week backpacking trip all through Costa Rica and upper Panama. As for a short trip - my suggestion is to go from San Jose (probably where you will land)- I suggest staying at Costa Rica Backpackers Hostel (Avenida 6 / Calle 21-22) I stayed there for a total of 8 days on three seperate occasions - to Tamarindo - very touristy and nice beaches, then head up to Mt. Aranal and see the volvano and go to the hot springs - best to stay in La Fortuna - ask for Gringo Pete's hostel (the purple place). It's really cool, cheap, and you will surely meet other travelers. I stayed there for 4 days. Then take the Jeep/Boat/Jeep ride to Monte Verde and go on a tour of the rainforest. By then you will have had some fun, met great people, and have a better idea what other things you want to see and do in the remaining days - word of mouth with other travelers will be your best source of information and you can get anywhere on the buses. Feel free to E-mail me direct if you have any questions -gregromig@hotmail.com - Pura Vida - Greg
