Our friend, Mark McMahon did it a few years ago. His website is LiveYourAdventure.com - he might have some tips for you.

Cheapest route to ship a car is from Colon, Panama to Cartagena, Colombia. Panama City to Guayaquil, Ecuador is probably easier, but more expensive.

you are saying that the second route is easier. We are still thinking to avoid Colombia,so maybe its a good idea.I'm trying to google some info on boats that coud ship our car and maybe transport people too,but having no luck so far... ConfusedHave you done a trip from north to south america by car? Or if anybody did it,would be awseome to talk to.

I know Mark avoided Colombia, but I'm not sure why - maybe it was just because it was easier or maybe it was political. He really had a blast on his adventure - there were some tough times, but overall it was wonderful. Good luck!
