Where is the best place to go to in Belize for a month or so. We want the beach and a relaxing atmosphere. We've looked at Placencia, and a few cayes. any suggestions?

I've been to Placencia. The beaches are very pretty, but the town is expensive and touristy. If you want to do any snorkeling or scuba diving you have to pay a boat to take you out to the reef, as the reef is rather far from shore. I'd definitely recommend spending a few days there, but I think you would get bored after a month.
Given a month, I'd recommend moving around a bit. You could head down to Punta Gorda and see some of the small garifuna or maya villages. You could visit the Turneffe islands. There is a lot to see in Belize.
