Hi!

Can anyone recommend where to look for furnished apartments or rooms to rent for a month or two? I've only found serviced apartments so far and that is way too expensive.

Are you planning on living in one of the major cities? If so, most people choose to flat with other people. It's just a lot cheaper. Have a look at

www.trademe.co.nz

They have a very popular Flatmates Wanted section. If you find a nice group of people to move in with then most likely they'll already have just about everything you need. All you would need to do is purchase a bed (very cheap at Salvation Army) and you're set.

If you're set on a furnished place, all on your own, then be prepared for it to be expensive.

If you are going to be in one of the cities, you may also want to check out the gumtree site for that city. The one for Christchurch is here, but you can click on the "Change City" link to switch.
