The Thunder From Downunder Goddess |
Hello to all BNA's in Melbourne right now.The annual Moonee Valley Festival is on this Sunday 25th February.
Catch the 59 tram from Elizabeth Street , in the city. The sigh on the front will read Airport West 59. You get off at Queen's Park, which will be on your left. Ask the driver. The Moonee Valley festival starts at 10.00am. Start your day with a champagne breakfast listening to old-time harmonies and a fine selection of Hawaiian jazz, and swing with th fine gents of The Wikimen. In the shady surrounds of the Caretaker's Cottage, the Cottage's stage will host the Essendon Football Club family fun day in the morning. (GO THE BOMBERS !!!That's my footy team). It will be followed with performances by local musicians and an integrated rock'n'roll band. There is the Melbournefive-piece Aintree Sweet with its blend of alternative country music and toe-tapping rhythms. The sounds will continue with the high-energy, eight-piece Pablo Discobar, playing tight soul and funk across the park. Lou Bennett a local girl from the Yorta Yorta-Dja Dja Wurrung people will be there. the West African rhythms of King Marong and Afro Mandinko will create a hybrid of afro-jazz-funk=reggae and one of Australia's best Latin American band Cimbo La Revelicion will perform salsa and bring the main stage to a close with its fiery brass arrangements and highly addictive percussion These are just some of the talent and entertainment on offer There are BBQ'S and food/drinks for sale and plenty of Art/Craft market stalls as well. As the sun goes down gather at the Main stage. Lead be a Wurrundjeri eagle and three large puppets representing birds of the past, present and future, join the parade as it weaves its way through the pathways of Queen's Park Lake to watch a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by a sound track created especially for the Festival by Connor Dalton. I can thoroughly recommend this festival as I have lived nearby for many years and have attended many of our festivals. Have a nice day, Whistler. If you can keep a sense of humour and see the funny side of life, you will never be old. SMC. |
