Hi. I am planning at trip for Australia for three months this winter. I work as a truckdriver now and my big dream would be to go with a road train on a trip. Does anyone have any ideas of howe to make this hapend.

I suppose finding an online forum for roadtrain drivers and start discussing trucking matters with them would be a good way to get to know your potential future "host".

Apart from that, you need to know that the massive vehicles are not allowed to go anywhere near major settlements, and they make extremely few stops before they reach their destinations. So if you want to hitch a ride, you will first have to go to where they do their loading and unloading. In Queensland, this means for instance Dalby and Toowoomba. There's gotta be similar places an hour or two outside Darwin and Adelaide too.

Keep in mind that your bladder should be in ship shape before you enter a roadtrain. The next toilet will typically be eight hours or so away. #8D)

Oh, and pay for your trip with some beer or rum afterwards! It'll be much appreciated.

Hi Truckergirl, I don't know whether or not roadtrains are permitted to carry "passengers" but you could try these sites for information.
Our Territory and Outback Australia and Roadtrains

I hope you find what you're looking for and good luck.

Cheers. Thumbs Up
