Yes, please do. Be very careful about the difference between insult and objection. Be very clear about the message you broadcast.
I have yet to receive a PM, yet I see many sniping comments.

An important distinction that does not go unnoticed.

'Gabba starts with G also, even though the full name of the suburb is Woolloongabba.

But I've never paid $37.50 per person for a museum, art gallery, or other educational event,

I did a bit of researching and yes Sov. Hill is a lot dearer than Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement - $21.50 and Warrnambool Martime Museum $16.00. I haven't been to Swan Hill for about 30 years - have been to Warrnambool within recent times.
Imo, neither are anywhere near as extensive or as interesting as Sov. Hill. As to the charges relating to the cobb & co ride - we went on it 2 years ago during school holidays and no charge. I'm pretty sure when I was taking groups of International students there, they weren't charging then. I can remember them charging in the early days - maybe it is a seasonal thing but I will agree $10 is a bit much on top of the entry fee.
When we were in England we paid 18pounds each for entry to one of the castles - which would be around $38aud, so figure it would be pretty average for the type of place it is.

Love Melbourne and it's easy to navigate. Lentil as Anything was hideous at St Kilda. Go to the other one. Chinatown has outstanding food.

Can't make any comments about the Gabba, but as a born and bred Melbournian we certainly do call it the "G".

Ms Scanna

You shouldn't have mentioned Warrnambool. My bride and I were just discussing a long (4 day) weekend trip and we are looking at a trip in that direction. We've done the GOR (3x) so are considering skipping straight to Port Campbell or Warrnambool as a starting point. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts about this?

Aliantraveler, I guess it depends on what sort of weekend you are after.

Port Campbell - very lovely place basically a seaside village in an inlet. If the weekend you are after is just a 'nothing weekend' of solitude and peace - I would recommend there.

Warrnambool - a far bigger place, with more to do - like any other regional town with a beach front. The best hamburgers around can be bought from Kermonds - sorry not sure of the address.
The martime museum at Warrnambool - I personally don't like, imo nothing really there to warrant stopping. In saying that though, I have heard that their night show is fantastic.

Apollo Bay, is another place I would consider spending a weekend at - many years ago we stayed at Whitecrest on the GOR just out of AB - I loved the place. To me AB is offering similar solitude as Port Campbell but has a bit more to offer. Cape Otway Fly is nearby as are the Glow Worms along with many other walks.

As I said before depends on what you are after.

Halls Gap - Grampians is another great place to spend a long weekend - though obviously not near the coast.

Thanks for the tips, Ms Scanna. I hadn't heard about Apollo Bay so the insider suggestion is very welcome.
