Hello everyone! And happy travels!

I'm a 25 year-old freelance journalist, magazine writer, soon to be novelist. I will be traveling from PA to Brazil. Mostly via hitchhiking, bus, maybe even motorcycle or scooter.

I am an experienced traveler. I've logged over 9,000 miles this past year traveling across the US on less than $50.

I'm intelligent, inquisitive, laid back, extremely personable, humorous, and humble. I travel for adventure, spiritual enlightenment, meaningful experience, and an expanded sense of perception. I am open minded and enjoy meeting people who challenge me, who inspire me, who make me laugh, and who have something meaningful to teach.

I'm a bookworm. My favorite authors are Jack Kerouac, Jack London, Walt Whitman, Ernest Hemingway, Hunter S. Thompson, Leo Tolstoy, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, and on and on.

I also enjoy backpacking, hiking, mountain climbing and biking, Buddhism, blues guitar, jazz, poetry, prose, tantra, shaolin gung fu, soccer, exercise, football, frisbee, the list can go on forever.

Anyone interested in coming along is welcome. It will be the experience of a lifetime. I will be leaving once I receive my passport. I'll probably spend six months to a year traveling Latin America. The journey will probably start with a trip to San Francisco (I need to investigate grad schools for creative writing), before heading south for Mexico.

Hey Jim or is it Jimi? I can't say that I'm as experienced a traveler but I am heading on my own down to Mexico from VA. I've used some frequent flyer miles to purchase a air ticket to Mexico City. My travel dates are June 29 through July 13. It's not quite the vagabond experience but it will have to do for now. My plan is to start in Mexico City and move on from there returning for my flight home. If your going to me in the area let me know. I'd love to tag along for a week or so.

Sounds like a plan. Even if we don't cross paths we can still exchange useful advice on the places we go. My plan is to stay in Mexico but travel around. I do want to make it to Brazil as well but that will have to wait for another trip. I'm what you would call a corporate backpacker. I can only go out for a couple of weeks at a time.

So, when do you plan on leaving?

Hey, thanks for the reply. It's been wicked long since I posted on Boots. I'm in San Francisco, soaking up the nightlife, the literary scene, and digging the scenery and the city's landscape.

I'm planning on leaving for Peru by the end of August or the beginning of September. I'll be volunteering there for a month (if all goes according to plan) and then after that I figure I'll travel around Peru for a while and then make my way to Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and end at Brazil, for Carnival. If anyone is planning on being in any of these countries in the next few months, let me know!
