Want to see the beautiful North West of Vietnam but don't want the costs (or restrictions) of an organised tour? We're a British couple (25) looking for another 2 people to share the cost of hiring a 4x4 and a driver to travel up through Mai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien Phu, Muong Lay, Lai Chau, and Sa Pa, over 6 days. We'd leave the 4x4 in Sa Pa and get the night train back to Hanoi. This is much cheaper than going on a tour and there is ample information on the villages in the guidebooks/online to do the trip independantly. We'd be happy to collaborate on deciding the final route and any other details. If you're interested, please respond ASAP as we'd like to leave within the next few days!

NB It doesn't matter what age you are, English or French speaking is good, and we're definitely more interested in Vietnamese culture than getting drunk and hanging out in Western bars (though we won't pass up a few beers!)

It's bit late to join you on this trip, but how long are you going to be in that area? I'm looking to fly out to Malaysia in about 2 weeks and would love to take a few trips like this one!
