I too love Thailand!

In 10 days you should have enough time to figure out some of the cool things to do and some good places to stay. Search BnA for SUK11 info, it's a really nice place to stay that won't break the bank. There are some cool place down by KSR to stay at, not quite on Khao San Road but around the corner down the alley way. You'll figure it out I'm sure. Good luck

I loooove Thailand. Was just there in April and plan to go back in September.

Suk 11 is great. But if you really want to cheap it out and don't mind tiny rooms, I recommend the Sweety Guesthouse, in an alley just off the east end of Khao San Road.

Rather depends what your after, if Nana + soi cowboy are your thing you'll be a lot better off staying in Sukumvit. If not then the Khao San's the place to be to watch fellow backpackers getting wasted and blagged up by tuktuk drivers.

In the way off good, clean fun the boxings always a laugh.

Hi,
I too love Thailamd and miss it terribly after living in BKK 3 year...
If you want to amuse yourself in BKK... there are all sorts of options.
I wouldn't stay in Khao san Rd though, it is not on the skytrain and that can make life difficult with the crazy traffic. Plus it is a traveller's ghetto - good for a laugh and worht a look, but it has NOTHING to do with Thailand or Bkk. Try around Sukhumvit instead, the Skytrain makes it easy to get around.
If you are there on a weekend you MUST go to Chatuchak market. It is HUGE and will take all day... it is fun to get lost and see what you can find... you never know what is around the corner. Great bargains too!
Around Khao San Rd is the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Defintitely a must. You never saw so much Bling!
Going on the river for a day is great too. BKK looks totally different from the river, and there are hop on hop off ferries so you can investigate things.
If you are after bars, no woriies... there is an unlimited supply... and nightclubs too. Bed Nightclub is good (where trendy Bkkers go) and so is V9 which is on top of the Sofitel Hotel (I think) and has an amazing view. Check the Bangkok Post or The Nation (English BKK papers) for cool places to go)
And then there is patpong. Worth a look, and it is a definite cultural experience! Makes your eyes bug out tho... and the girls in the ping pong bars look as if they would rather be having a root canal. And you WILL get ripped off, it is part of the experience.
If you want to there is a good katoey cabaret show at the Asia Hotel.
And just wandering around is pretty interesting as well. you don't know what you might see!
Have fun.

also if you want KSR consider the D&D...it is almost like a hotel, about 550 baht a night for a room with air con and bathroom...rooftop pool, and kind of at the end of KSR (assuming you start from the burger king)...I stayed at Suk 11 and not to get in to a whole deal, I thought it was personally overrated a bit...yes it is near the skyrail, but if you want to go out and go to KSR to party, you have to take a cab there, which is fine, but getting home is a nightmare...you will be heart pressed to find a taxi that will do meter late at night from patpong, KSR area or in general back to suk 11 it is not that close...

For price suk 11 is perfect..yes you can get to the river to take boats, museums, shopping, and there are places around it, including a supermarket 24/7 extremely convenient and about 2500000 7/11's that are open plenty and sell really cheap beer, still it was far when I wanted to head down to KSR...

my second time back after my trip before I went home I tried D&D Inn, good security, 24/7, and met a ton of people...it is also near streets with tons of out door little street bars and stuff which were a lot of fun...
