Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
So - the research phase for our upcoming cycling trip is in full swing. We're pretty confident about the first few stages (Flores, Sumatra, Borneo), however, Western Kalimantan poses some questions.
Until Pontianak everything is alright. But what to do afterwards? I know that we can take a boat from Pontianak to Ketapang and then make our way to Pangkalanbun from there by bicycle and boat and bus. However, the Nelles map that just arrived shows a road 'under construction' from Pontianak to Sanggau...and then further down inland to Batularis. Does anybody know how far advanced that 'road' is. And if there is a road, would it be advisable to attempt it with a bicycle (traffic, distance between towns, etc.)? ---------------------------------------------- My personal travel website. www.aresthetics.ch/trav ------------------------------ "Nationalism is an infantile disease, the measles of mankind."
