Has anyone got any experience of the "Hotel Chinatown Inn" in KL ? How does it rate to some of the other accommodation on offer ?

Any suggestions for places to stay would be gratefully accepted. Smile

There is this GIANT (skyscraperish) hotel that's like $15 a night in the heart of town. Somebody with a BnA blog had mentioned it but I don't remember the name. Any help?

I stayed at the Pudu Hostel, across from the bus station (very convenient). It wasn't posh, but it was clean. It costs like $4 or less per night.

They offer about the price of CHinatown Inn. I would say Katari is quite okay.

KL = Kuala Lumpur

Pudu Hostel is alright, and then there is "Backpackers Inn" right next door (didn't stay there though).

Well, if you want a standard hostel with dorms, the Backpackers Travellers Inn in Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur may be ok. But I reserved a single room for $25 a night. Filthy floor, no top sheet, so tiny you could hardly find a place to put your pack, had to pay extra for soap and a towel...which would have been ok except for $25 a night?!!! Needless to say I checked out and got a nice hotel in central KL for $30. Think Lonely Planet was taken in by the charms of the hostel manager.

I know I replied to a post once asking the same question. I recommended a hostel that looks great - new, tailored towards backpackers, in the right side of town but for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the hostel. You should also search for similar posts.

As well, my friend stayed at the Red Palm and really liked it. Great locale for shopping and bars, and walking distance to the Petronas Towers.

This also looks interesting:

Ah ok it was this place - Number Eight

I like this place. Very Homy and cozy. The people are very nice. They have a minimalist concept, from the interior design, the breakfast self service, the seperated shower & toilet. It makes you feels like home. The location is very easy to find. Love it very much! This is my place if next time I want to visit Kuala Lumpur.

My rate on march 2008 is only RM 45/night/pax (incl breakfast and AC + fan)
