Hey All,
Im in the process of planning a trip over Christmas/New years to SE Asia most mainly Laos/Northern Thailand...What are your thoughts on booking accomodation during that time of year ? i will book the first weeks accomodation in Vientiane in advance but having not been to Laos before im just abit worried about availibilty that time of year....also does anyboday have any idea about priceing that time of year i know normaly im looking at $20-$40usd??/

I don't think that you have anything to worry about, lodging wise. There is plenty of inexpensive lodging wherever you go. Finding it isn't difficult once you are there, and adds to the adventure.

Remember: Tin Tin didn't book in advance!

Thanks for the reassurance guys...also iv got to say Boots N All is ace..... The advice I receive from everyone is top shelf stuff and just reading all the previous threads not only pumps me up to travel but basically plans all my trips....Big props to all the Mods and contributors

I would suggest you have something booked,just in case!!

Peak period of Luang Prabang is February and November, but most guesthouses are available. Anyway, i heard in those months some tourists have to stay at a temple.

i was just back from Luang Prabang and there is a new guesthouse called Tanaboun on Sisavangvong Rd which is center of everything and room rate is 150,000 kip ($20 approx incl aircon, private bathroom & TV. downstairs is internet cafe & coffee shop. quite nice and cheap Smile
