does anyone have any advise about getting to and spending a night in Koya-san, Japan? I will be coming from Kyoto and I want to stay in a monestary, but can't seem to get much info. Any recommendations would be welcomed.

If it is also written Koyasan, sounds like a very interestingly spiritual place and this article starts of with some details on how to get there, where he stayed and what is to be seen/experienced.

And this one also has some getting there info (both not from Kyoto, but you should be able to adapt), and is written from certainly a different blood, different vein and does make a reference to the Japanese National Tourist Orgainisation where I'd expect you to be able to get more info from in Japan on range of accomodation options and need to book etc.

Be interested in your feedback on date of Kobo Daishi's ashes service day(s) and what you find accomodation/food costs there are (though can probably Google the former like I did this), Bow "rigato"

Sounds like some grasp of Japanese will go a long way in improving the experience stakes.
Hope you enjoy.

ps And this one is far more factual with some pricing if a little old.
