I thought I would post the information I have found after tirelessly searching the web, and see if any booties can shed further light on this situation.

Climbing Mt. Kinabalu is around $300 for 2d/1n tour. Wiki Travel explains that you can avoid this by booking your stay on the mountain on your own, and then you can get a guide before you go up for a fair price and along with other fees pay around $100 for everything.

However, due to popularity of the climb the site http://www.suterasanctuarylodges.com started only booking Laban Rata. There are 3 or 4 other places to stay but you can only book them through allusive travel agents. Further the prices were severely jacked up so that it will cost you around $100 for a dorm bed at Laban Rata and you have to book like 6 months in advance. Not to mention that the site has a reputation for being very slow to respond.

Any tips/Advice on how to contact the other accomodation choices (they are non-heated but I don't think I'll mind after hiking all day) would be very helpful.

Hi RobinMarie,

As for being able to book this on your own I am not sure. We also offer this trip through BootsnAll World Adventures if you are not able to find the information you are looking for.
