Lost in Place
Posted
Hey everybody

I write you right now from Japan. Me and my girlfriend are three months and a half travelling and we will travel for some months more.

But after this time changing place each 2 or 3 days, we are starting to be a little bit tired, so we need a bit of relax.

We are thinking in going to Thailand and stay one month just enjoying doing nothing in some beautiful (and my girlfriend says "with beach" ) relaxing place. And we would like to have some Internet conection if possible.

Do you know any place with this things?

It would be great spending a month just sleeping lots of siestas

There are plenty of suggestions scattered about in this forum, e.g. this thread.

I don't have any myself because I got rained out of Thailand (it was bucketing it down both on the west and east coast, so I headed into Malaysia, but this time of year it should be fine).

You can get internet in most places, but I'm not sure about WiFi. Bring a LAN cable if you want to connect your laptop.

Lots of internet shops all over Thailand. Price is reasonable. Less often in some of the cheaper hotels, except maybe in the lobbies.

How is your budget holding up? After Japan prices Thailand will seem like a bargain!

Phuket and the islands around there, are pretty good but it is sort of on the bottom of Thailand - nice place to relax at though!

A cheaper beach close to Bangkok is Pattaya. Beach is only okay for sunbathing, walking, shopping, restaurants, bars and malls - but tourists can swim at nearby Naklua or Jomtien.

You will find that hotels, transportation and restaurants are are a little cheaper than Bangkok and Phuket! Pattaya is only around 2 hours from Bangkok and around 120 baht for the bus ride from the Ekamai bus station.

Lots of cheap hotels with air and hot water and private bathrooms start around 450 baht during low season, sometimes a little lower. A hotel room in the 650 baht to 850 baht range may have pools too! Several malls, three movie theaters, lively nightlife. You can avoid any of the nightlife if you choose, just ignore it or get a place further away from Pattaya City.

good luck
