Only in big cities of India. So stock up when you land in Mumbai/Delhi. Brands may differ

PdC, stock up in Delhi. You will not find it in smaller towns in North India.

Ah, sorry, didn't think about that... Boots is a UK based store (I think..? No... they must have them in the US...surely). It's a big pharmacy/store/type thing. Sells lots of useful things like ladies bits, sun lotion and gifts perfect for that special occasion Big Grin

have you tried the menstrual cups?
divacup.com and thekeeper.com, or something similar. i am getting divacup locally this weekend.
they are rubber (keeper) or silicone (diva) cups that collect the blood, you pull it out and dump it, wipe and reinsert. testimonials look great!
just make sure to wash with potable water, not tap water in most places..

......heyy bliss......not even going close to that sort of thing......sounds, well, so not my thing and probably not so sanitary especially when travelling to places where it's difficult to get the appropriate clean environment. Thanks anyhow

I'm so not the person to be commenting on this (being male)... however... female friends that have travelled and used this 'thing' that you put in your 'thing' has praised it highly, and they were also very reluctant to put anything in their 'thing'. Apparently it makes your life fantastically simple.

Now I'm going to run off cringing...

You can find them in Bangalore and Mysore so I am assuming Chennai wouldn't be an issue either. There only seems to be two brands available and you can find them in the aisle that stocks sanitary napkins - of which there are plenty to chose from.

the concept is no different than a tampon...the tampon absorbs, the cup collects.
i havent used it yet but the concept is akin to a diaphragm or cervical cap. only sits lower away from cervix to allow it to 'breathe' and therefore safely stay in longer.
and it doesnt leak, and can get you through an overnite bus ride or places where youd rather not be dealing with changing a tampon/pad til you get to a better place. keep some alcohol pads with you, wipe it out, keep extra stuff out of their landfills (or roads)...
and monkey, i appreciate your courage posting Wink

Yeah, Joe, can you stay out of the *tampon* thread, please?
It's bad enough that you had to comment on the sexiness of Garison Keillor. Newsflash: You are not a girl.

I know, you're a moderator and have to make sure that we're not talking about something gross...or something.

I have one of the menstrual cups (a keeper), and I have to say it's the best discovery I've made in a long time. I'll admit, it took some getting used to, and I wasn't sure I liked it at first. After a few months, however, I'd never go back to pads and tampons. The cup feels way cleaner, and far more convenient. As someone said, you don't have to worry about changing it during a long bus trip where you have no bathroom. It won't hurt you a bit if you have to leave it in overnight.
