Ok guy’s advice time...
I’m planning a 3 week trip back SE Asia in Dec/Jan, this time Cambodia & Vietnam

Iv got Cambodia sorted, probably 1 1/2 weeks, only thing is.... What’s a unique way to spend Christmas over there?

Vietnam, however I need some advice...Cause of the short time frame I don’t known what to do?
Should I concentrate on the North or the South? Should I try to hit the capitals?
Can any one recommend an route?

Any advice would be much appreciated

I'm glad that you are coming to visit our countries in Vietnam and Cambodia.
It seems like you'll have 10-12 days for Vietnam. You can do either South or North Vietnam or both North and South Vietnam depending on your individual tastes. I'd think of something as follows:
Day 1: Arrive in Ha Noi
Day 2: Ha Noi
Day 3: Ha Noi - Ha Long Bay
Day 4: Ha Long Bay - Ha Noi - Hue
Day 5: Hue
Day 6: Hue - Hoi An
Day 7: Hoi An
Day 8: Hoi An - Sai Gon
Day 9: Sai Gon - Cu Chi Tunnels - Sai Gon
Day 10: Sai Gon - Mekong Delta - Sai Gon
Day 11: Sai Gon - Siem Reap (or Phnom Penh)

This way you could saves money on the airfare between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Still I don't know your starting date and where you'd like to have Christmas. Some general idea about Christmas:
Ha Noi: chilly, dry, atmospheric and sensational at Chistmas
Hue and Hoi An: chilly/off-and-on wet and more reserved
Sai Gon: vibrant, warm and colorful. Nice excuse to drink a at Christmas (as do everyday).

You pick out what is best for yourself and enjoy your trip!
