I'm travelling around Hangzhou,Suzhou and Shanghai next month.
How long is it enough to stay in Hangzhou/Suzhou?
What's the best way to go to Suzhou from Hangzhou?
And any must go in Shanghai? (I wouldn't do much shopping there.)

Take a train - it's cheap and very convenient. Hangzhou to Shanghai is about 2 hours. Can't remember how long from Hangzhou to Suzhou.

I reckon you can do a lot in 4-5 days in Hangzhou. I lived there for a year so let me know if you want any more info.

Hangzhou to Shanghai is, as mentioned, no problem by train.

I spent almost a week in Hangzhou - but that was mainly due to the fact that I was taken in by a bunch of Chinese reporters and we had a great time together. Without it, I'd think three to four days is good for Hangzhou. Give yourself time to enjoy the somewhat relaxed atmosphere of the lake and suroundings. Certainly not the worst place in Eastern China for a traveller.

Thanks guys!!
Sounds that Hangzhou is more interesting than Suzhou. So I'm now thinking about making a day trip to Suzhou from Shanghai.
Is it possible if I take a train there and back to Shanghai and also get to visit perhaps one garden in the city?

I went to Century Park in Shanghai. Nice... If you like the crowd go on a weekend. You see families and interesting sights while your around. It has an entrance fee not sure how much because my friend paid for me. Also, while in Hangzhou don't forget to buy Longjing Tea.
