My mum was supposed to come out and visit us in Singapore at the end of the SEA leg of our trip but, due to complications with my brother's marriage, she's now not going to make it.

Thing is, she was going to bring some stuff out for us for the NZ leg of the trip.

I was wondering about getting her to post some stuff to us to pick up in Malaysia (it is stuff that we need rather than stuff that can be bought in NZ when we arrive) but we don't know anyone in Malaysia and I have no idea where to get it sent to or if it's at all possible.

We'll be mainly travelling through Malaysia but hope to spend a week or so each on the Perenthians and Tioman.

Can anyone help?

Can you work on being somewhere in say two three weeks time and have her send it poste restante.
Find out the address of a P.O in major city where you expect to be and the address will be
KPG,
Poste Restante
xyz P.O.
etc.

You should be able to get an address off a of Malaysia Poste Restante I'd suspect.

We have had a poster recently join from Malaysia - "timmi" a married lady who seems level headed and is actually planning (or was) a trip to NZ.

I know some people in Auckland area if you would want to post it direct to NZ fo picking up there, not far from airport actually.

My partner has pointed out that we could have the stuff sent to Auckland Poste Restante as we'll be there a few days anyway.

I have never used the service before so will take a look. Do you know how long they keep stuff for?

Will look into it all and let you know if we need to take up your kind offer.

Standard holding time in Oz KPG is a month and I suspect it is pretty much a worldwide standard as saw that period of time also mentioned for Vietnam.

I was checking with Oz post one time and they said no problem to hold something longer if they were notified that someone had been delayed in travels and advised of when they would arrive.

Expect NZ people would be just as friendly.

Switzerland to Oz postal time can be just on a week for parcels and I'd expect UK to NZ would be less or similar, tho if it was getting within a month of Xmas you would want to allow a couple of weeks longer.

It might also pay to send an email to NZ customs to make sure you would not be getting landed with duty or anything for new stuff and also check that there's nothing on the prohibited list.
