Hi all, I'm on Koh Phangan at the moment and am planning on hanging around here for a while (it's beautiful!) before I head off to whatever is next, but I really want to do a few dives and seeing as Koh Tao is so close, I was wondering about diving there.

Obviously there is a lot of diving to be done on Koh Tao, but I don't know how the diving actually is.

I'm looking for general recomendations, i.e. "don't bother diving on Koh Tao, head over to ________ instead" or, "diving on Koh Tao is GREAT, I had a great experience with _______", that sort of thing. There are a ton of dive operators, I really don't know who to go with, etc, etc.

For what it's worth I've been diving since I was 11 (I'm 23 now), but my dive partner (girlfriend) has only been diving for a few years. I've dove in quite a few places around the world and may be a bit spoiled, but I just love being in the water. My girlfriend is NOT spoiled and has only done a few dives in some murkey Florida water. I'd love to find something she'd enjoy.
