We're planning a trip to South Korea, but also would like to visit other places in Asia since we're there. We're not fixed yet as to where to go. any suggestions? (cambodia, thailand, China...all these and some others sound great).
How much would it cost for a plane ticket to get elsewhere? Is is very expensive?

Air travel in Asia, i found to be pretty Cheap. BUT if you want a cool experience, maybe look into taking the Ferry from South Korea to China, I did it last september, takes about 24hrs, ship is modern enough, clean, and alot cheaper than flying. If you want more information let me know.

Wow!! It sure sounds great. We did think about taking the ferry, but thought it would be so expensive!!! how much is it? where in China do you arrive? Can you sleep in the boat?

Too be honest, i Can't remember how much it costs, i had friends in Korea who took care of the booking, I'll find out and let you know.

Yes you can sleep in the boat, i believe there is 3 or 4 different Categories, we had a room to ourselves, with Tv/DVD and private Bathroom. We met some other Westerners(the only other 2 on the ship!) who stayed in the Dorm style rooms, and said it was no problem, a little loud, but they saved some money. The food on board is alright, but not the best.

You arrive in the 'beautiful' port city of Tanggu in Tianjin, from there its easy to get a train to Beijing, takes about an hour, make sure to take the 'T' train! Of course the minute you get off the ship you will be offered a cab to Beijing, and there is a bus waiting aswell, we found the train to be the easiest.

Korea seems to be one of the more expensive places to fly FROM...That being said you can always find deals. Depending on the time of year that you'll be traveling, you can get to places like Bangkok, Kuala Lampur, Cambodia, etc for as little as 350-400$. In the "high" season, it'll generally cost you double that.

Once you're out of Korea and into SE Asia, check out AirAsia - they have excellent prices and lots of flights!

Thanks for the info. It's gonna be useful. We are going to South Korea end of August 2009 for personal business, but then since we're already there, we thought we could extend our stay, for 2 more weeks and we're free to go where we wish. So, so far, we haven't decided where exactly we'd like to go but we're looking around for prices and stuff. Any suggestions?
