Looking for advice on travel from NYC to Vietnam as the first leg of an around the world tour. As such, NYC to NAM will be a one way ticket. Will that make waves with customs? Who has done this? What should I expect? Please advise.

Someone out there has had to have entered on a one way ticket. I am entering Vietnam on a one-way ticket to start my year of travel. Will there be any trouble entering on a one-way ticket?

Have you already bought a ticket?
I am betting that a one way ticket to Bangkok and then a one way ticket to Hanoi on Air Asia might be a hell of a lot cheaper (even with roundtrip taxi and lodging in Bangkok).

I have only entered Vietnam via bus, and they never give me a second look.
(OK, they did once, but that is because I am so handsome)

Not yet. I have found a cheap one way ticket from New York to Hanoi for $600. Flying to Bankok was not any cheaper. I just want to see if there will be any problems with entering on a one-way ticket with no onward plans.

That is what I thought. I want to pull the trigger today. From your experience do you think I will have any trouble entering on a one-way?

My experience is lacking. I have only been to Vietnam twice, both times entering on the lovely bus from Phnom Penh. You need to ask smarter people that me, which would be, um, most everybody.
