I am a student from New York, and hope to go to Beijing for watching 2008 Olympic Games. Considering cost and comfortability, my friends suggested me to rent short-term apartments, home hotel or family inns in Beijing. So I have submitted reservation applications by one chinese house service website: www.homehotel2008.com. Since I am a young girl, I do not know if it is convenient to rent a family inn in Beijing? please give me some advices, thanks a lot! ^_^

Ok. I´m going to try and put this gently.

There are a lot of millionaires in China, and they specialize in planning ahead, even the poorer middle class.

I would work hard on getting ANY kind of accomodation ahead of time, and concentrate on getting tickets for the events before all of them get bought up by the black marketeers, IF that is possible.

I´d like to know how you´re making out.

I can almost guarantee you that the chinese will pack the house for all the important events so their athletes have a better chance, as we well saw in Korea.

This means tickets for foreigners will be hard to find.

As for being a young woman, BRAVO!!!!!

You will probably have a grand time in beijing, whether or not you see any semifinal or final events, and you´ll be seeing a historical event. I am jealous of you.

You should be safe in China. All the possibly violent criminals will probably be donating organs by the start of the passing of the torch. China is cutting down on all possible signs of dissent or trouble well ahead of the olympics. The message is probably out. BOther the tourists and spend a LONG time in jail.

Homestay might be an option. Forget about the hotels - too expensive. what is your budget and how long do you want to stay?
