My daughter and son-in-law flew into Rangoon on Fri May 2 hours ahead of the cyclone Nargis. I am in Australia and can't just sit on my hands. I need to go and find them.

Does anyone have any information on getting into Burma right now? Probably on a tourist visa? Or volunteering with an aid agency??

Also does anyone have phone or email contact details for Poona Travel in Bangkok? They may have details where Sarah and Dan are staying in Rangoon.

Don't waste your time trying to get to Myanmar if you don't know where they are. In fact aid workers are having trouble getting visas. Do you have reason to believe they were in the Delta or Yangon? Electricity out and internet down. I would contact the Australian Embassy in Bangkok and see what they can do for you. If there is no Australian Embassy in Yangon they could contact the U.S. Embassy there...if the phone system isn't out and/or they have a means of communicating otherwise. Or maybe go through the UK embassy. Have been reading another thread on another travel site...www.couchsurfing.com you might want to read.

I know a bit of what it is like for you. My son and daughter-in-law were living on the beach in Krabi Thailand when the tsunami hit and it took awhile for me to reach them...
