Is this worth going or is this still monsoon season and not worth it?
We will be going to India from July 22-August 22 on our RTW, and this is really the only area that we have no idea what to do. We will be coming from either egypt or Jordan, and going to Thailand after, With that said: 1. What are must sees in India? 2. What are suggested routes to take through india, preferably towards Thailand? 3. What cities are the best to hit on this route? 4. We would definitely like to do at least one good hike, please suggest one? Any advice on anything to do with India is recommended as we are without a clue. Thanks, Stouds |

My boyfriend and I are planning a RTW as well and we are really having trouble deciding where to be in July and August as the weather doesn't seem to be ideal ANYWHERE in Asia during that time.
I know India will be very HOT during those months. I've never been- maybe if you're used to the humidity in Charleston you might be okay. But it will most likely rain as well. I'm sure people on the boards will tell you that you need more than 1 month in India... if that's all the time you have though, perhaps you should stick to either the north or the south region. Here's a link that may help you get started on your planning: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/shop_pickandmix/free_chapte...-getting-started.pdf "People say that what we are all seeking is a meaning for life. Thanks for the info. We are looking into flying into mumbai, and training across the north. We really don't know what we want to do in India yet, other than a good trek, the Taj Mahal, and ?????? We are open to suggestions.

Began Gap Year Trip Six Years Ago |
I'm assuming you are talking about next July. This year the rains have been 40% less than normal. I have been in Hyderabad since July 8th and except for a few drops no Monsoon. So rains can be unpredictable..maybe it will be late Monsoon.
About Goa in rains...its actually very beautiful. But it could be raining straight for days there or could be dry like this year. India is not that Hot in July/Aug. Hottest would be April/May/June before the rains If you are planning to go to Thailand afterwards then you can Fly out of any of the gateways. Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai and I think also Chennai. 1. Taj Mahal, Palaces in Rajasthan, Temples in south India, Beaches of Goa..etc. Too many places to hit. India is very big and diverse. And depends what kind of travel you would like to do.
2. Most people go by flights Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish |
