Alison of Oregon here, seeking Sri Lanka advice...

I leave on the 26th for a year-long, round the world adventure - yahoo!

Sri Lanka was a last-minute addition to my travel plans. I'll be spending a week or so before going to India. I'm flying in to Colombo and arriving at the unfortunate hour of 11:45 PM. Any suggestions regarding where to stay and how to get there from the airport would be deeply appreciated. Also, any suggestions about the best way to enjoy a week in Sri Lanka are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Alison

Hey Alison-
There was a good Sri Lanka Guide written a few years ago that may give you some advice.

Alison,

No advise on where to stay in Colombo, but I would advise trying to stay in Sri Lanka longer. It was my 9th country in my RTW, and has by far been my favorite. The people there are nicer than anywhere I have found. Shoot me an email if you are going to Tangalle. I will give you the name of the best guesthouse I have ever stayed at. Can you tell I liked the country?

I will be visiting Sri Lanka for a week, sometime in June or July, have to choose between one of these months. There is now a direct flight from my city to this country, which makes it really cheap. Yipeee.... hooray..I know it will be monsoons and heavy rains and all that, but then it also means a different experience and hey, lots of discounts. Alison, I would love to hear about your experience here. When are you planning to be in India and where?

Hi Sweaver
I have just shot you an email. That info on the guesthouse would be useful. Trouble has broken out in Srilanka again, militants..but hopefully by the time i reach it should be sorted out. Alison do keep a watch out for such news.
