Hi, My name is ShatteredShield and I am a pretty much wheelchair bound (but I can get around some on cruches) 100% disabled American Veteran. I was injuried in the line of duty while stationed in the then Republic of Panama, were I was assigned as an Investigator in the U.S Armys CID/MPI Drug Suppression Team. I am proud to have served. I am seeking other veterans (disabled or not) who might want a traveling companion, though near 48 yrs.old, I look much younger and an in general a healthy tall, red hair, bule eyed, female. It would be interesting just to corrospond with other veteran and maybe exchange postcards on trips. Well hope to hear from some of you guy or girls soon.

Best Wishes & safe Passage WinkShatteredShield@msn.com

Hi Sheild. Hope you find a travel companion soon. Where are you intending to travel. Perhaps an indication would help fellow booties to meet up with you.

Why, or more importantly how, would a DV in a chair want to travel with a bunch of firearms?
Have you considered discussing this first with someone.
Dont misunderstand where I am coming from. I have had the same career path as you, and am a "recovering paraplegic" if there is such a thing( I re-learned to walk after a spinal injury) . Forget the guns, just bring yourself, your open mind, and personality. Everything else will fall in place. Besides, I don't think the government of Thailand would look very favorably on you bringing in guns. They just might make the assumption that you are planning a Coup or something and lock you up in their dungeon. I am certain I have more guns than you, but mine stay at home. That is good advice. I hope you consider it.,

I want to once again, thank you for your responce. As far as the firearms etc.... one of the few things I can still enjoy in my life is going to the firing range. I agree with your statement regarding, leaving them home, but at the same time I reside in an apartment and although I have a safe, leaving same unattended would not be the responsible thing to do. As I tend to agree with your statment, and if I were a home owner I would do so. I will be placing an ad in the paper to sell same. You are 100% correct, its time to stop living in the past and start living in the here and now. Though they mean a great deal to me, in fact they are dead weight and need to go so that I can travel agian. Thank you for the wake-up call. Roll Eyes

My disability is not so much physical as I have PTSD which reared its ugly head about six yeras ago. I am a Vietnam Vet, Australian and now a freelance photojournalist specialising in travel.
I am finding that a great deal of my work involves identifying activities, tours, special benefits etc for the over 50's and the disabled as many of the problems both groups face are similar.
My disability has not been a negative in my work as I use it to open more doors and I have been pleasantly surprised at how kind and empathetic people of all nationalities have been, even in sticky situations.
I am off to Canada and Taiwan in the next six months and will pass on my findings from both countries if you are interested.
