So there are a lot of movies out there, some of which may have inspired you to get out there and see the world.

What movie would you say has inspired you to travel?

For me, the "movie" BARAKA is the quintessential spiritiual world travel video. I put "movie" in quotes, because it's not so much a movie of sorts. It's this 90-min collection of truly awe-inspiring images from around the world, all set and edited nicely to new age and world music. Very moving.

Check it out: http://www.mpimedia.com/New_Releases/BARAKA/

Aside from Baraka, I'd have to say the REAL movie that got me out there is RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

"I don't know, I'm making this up as I go."
-Indiana Jones

Classic.

The Awakening with Charlston Heston and Stephanie Zimbalist. Made around 1980 and a box office failure, it is based on a novel by Bram Stoker (known for Dracula). It is a very "unique" little movie partly shot in Egypt (Heston is an archeologist). It deals with supernatural but no effects or cheap thrills. I don't why but it carry a sense of mystery and adventure like no other.
I am also a huge fan of Raiders .

not a movie--but the GlobeTrekker series is pretty interesting.

Mosquito Coast--by and large Harrison Ford's best role ever!

Globe Trekker ROCKS! I have every episode that I've seen on tape, even when it was still Lonely Planet's show.

Did you know that recently, four of the hosts did a Q&A Web Chat? The transcripts are here:

It seems I'm not the only one who has had a crush on Justine. And Ian's responses are just FUNNY. Funnier than he is on the show at times.

I hate to admit it, but I too was influenced by Mr. Indiana Jones as a kid. Also more recently, a somewhat sappy film called "I Dreamed of Africa" based on a real life story.
