Hey,how's it going?

I'm actually new to this message board. I've spent a few nights reading posts, and feel that I am in the right place.
Anyway, my name is Rich. I'm a seasoned traveler (over a decade of it), as well as a bit of a writer (wrote a book entitled Transcend, published: June 2001, as well as a couple of articles published since then).
Anyway, I am working on a bit of a writing project in which I need about 25 experienced travelers to share some of their travel anecdotes, as well as the lessons that they've learned as a result of their travels. More details will follow, but right now, I am putting the word out for willing participants.

If you can answer the following questions in the affirmative, than drop me a line:

~ Do you feel that travel is far more than the seeing of sights?
~ Would you say that you've learned some important life lessons as a result of your travels?
~ Has traveling changed the direction of your life?
~ Do you feel that the world would be a better place if more people took the initiative to travel (ie. within the contexts of world peace, racial/ethnic cohesion, environmental preservation efforts, etc)?

My e-mail address is:
richardjoseph94@msn.com

I am hoping for a lot of e-mails/responses, and there will be a screening process, so don't be discouraged by the relatively low number of contributors needed (25). Again, if you can answer the questions in the affirmative, and feel you have a lot to say in regard to the questions, then drop a line. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Richard Joseph

Did you guys even give him a chance...NOT REALLY. If you are the kind of person he is looking for maybe you should give it a try...be a little open-minded. Remember nobody gets anywhere in this world without a little help from someone and that is the gosh darn Truth!!

Beccajean,

Thanks for sticking up for me there. I didn't feel it was worth the time responding to those other posts.
I'll respond to yours instead. I'm not looking for other writers. I'm not looking for other people's stories (they are a dime a dozen; besides, I have enough of my own). I'm also not looking for cynical, washed up, has beens.
My original e-mail stated "anecdotes." I should have said "a brief biography" (and I mean brief) followed by an interview. In a nutshell, I am hoping to interview a handfull of travelers who also consider themselves five-and-dime philosophers, and are idealistic in their views. Again, no need for writers. More of a need for thinkers; that's it.
I've gotten some e-mails already. Thanks to you guys who dropped a line to see what ideas I have cooking. Hopefully, there will be some more responses, and we can soon get things going in positive directions. As for the cynicism, it just isn't worth my time.
Thanks again Beccajean. Your post is appreciated.

Rich, I'm glad you didn't get discouraged by our resident cynics here (down boys!), it's just that we tend to get a lot of scam artists and our policy is suss them out ASAP.

For future reference, with this board or any message board, really, you might want to email an administrator queriying whether it's cool to post about your project. That way there's a heads up and the pack is satiated.

I may even send you an email myself. I'm all in deep thought now!

Just another travel addict trying to get Out of dodge...

Hi Rich,
Travelling through the third world in the early 70's changed my life. I have looked at our life-style in Canada with amazement and often embarrassment ever since. eg. In my own house I have 14 different outlets for potable water (including the hose outlets outside). I have 14 flourescent light-bulbs in my kitchen. How's that for overkill? Louise
