i'm thinking of combining a retreat (of yoga or buddhist studies) with a trip in india/nepal/tibet. i was wondering if people have combined retreats with longer trips and how it works out? did you do it at the start or end or middle of your trip, and how did it change the rest of your trip?

hmmmm......I'm sure it's been done. But it's also possible to do that kind of....how do you call it....soul searching? in a wide variety of environments. I'd say if you feel this is the right trip for you you should take the plunge and go.

hey i just got done my time in latin america. after 4 months or so of traveling i did a 4 week mediation course at lake atlilan oin guatemala. then spent another 6 weeks just chilling in nature and doing yoga, siting on a rock and meditating and studing esoterics. went on to travel for a long time aftrer words too. got a lot more out of my trip. tought me to be a lot more peaqcful and calm and to apreate the moment im in a lot more.
