A Refuge of the Hyborian Age |
So google seem to be failing me in this search. A friend told me that there's a "festival" somewhere in S.A. where they crucify volenteers. Now I'm trying to verify this and can't seem to find anything. I did find THIS But it's not what I was looking for. Anybody else know something about this? I'm just wondering why would one do such a thing.

I have only heard of this in the Philippines.

Crucify for real? As in, until death? Or just hang people on crosses for a while and let em down after a bit? I guess I could see that some people might want to know what it feels like to be strung up like that... assuming they are able to be let down.

They let them down I think. Where in the Philippines?

there are quite a few forms of this. the idea is to experience christ through the suffering he experienced.
Some places have them carry the crosses themselves even. Other places have the devotees carry barbed whips and whip themselves as they walk. its like.. inflicted stigmata. creation as opposed to reaction |

Here's a story about it. They really do get nailed to the cross, but they don't stay up until they die.
