So, I have been lucky enough to take the past a couple of years off to travel. Even before, I have thought about branching off to do something more related with nature (I was in IT) and somewhere during the process documentary filmmaking stuck to my mind and I started to head toward the direction of nature and culture filmmaking. Needless to say, it's not easy and sometimes even painful not making much progress in a while due to situations finacially and personally. For those of you coming back and are looking for a job, how do you feel about going back to your old job? What if you have found something else you think you'd rather do but seems too crazy or out of the way to get to?

I'm in the process of going back to work..after a couple of years (3) of living off my 401 K and some odd freelance jobs here and there.

How do I feel? It's an accumulative experience. In the beginning it will seem like torture to have to go back to work. Dont' force it. First I would say, go for whatever it is that seem too crazy, but attracts you intensely! Go after it with you got, and then, once you've fulfilled your curiosity, whether you decide to continue with this pursuit, or to come back to your job...either way, it will have been well worth the effort. You will find that your old job may feel different than you remembered. You will have become a richer person (maybe not financially) and your job will fit you differently.

Nothing ever stays the same...except when you force it to stay the same ...in your mind.

You come back to your job naturally when in your mind it doesn't seem so routine any more..and it won't be.
