Can you sum it up in a few lines?

Here's my shot: The most important thing is authenticity, being true to yourself.

You know quite well, deep within you, that there is only a single magic, a single power, a single salvation...and that is called loving. Well, then, love your suffering. Do not resist it, do not flee from it. It is your aversion that hurts, nothing else. --H.H.

Okay, I'm laughing hysterically right now (could be the wine!), but Stiv do you know Not The First Travis?!!
Human contact is really important. I'm super affectionate and really do believe that the line from Les Mis, "To love another person is to see the face of God," is true. Contact is part of that. Have you ever gone for months without another touching you? I have. And then the hug that comes at the end of that can take your breath away because there is indeed something divine in human contact.
When I was living in Palestine, I had no contact for a long time. I couldn't really. And one day I went up to another teacher and said to her, "Could you hug me?" I started crying at being hugged. Crazy? Emotional? Maybe. But also human.

I know & love him in cyberspace....

but i'm in italy & he's in seattle & he often questions my sexuality....which is not nice... Frown

My choices in the past year or two have left me with a solitary lifestyle here & the few hugs & kisses I receive I lap up like a dog dying of thirst....its the one downside of following your dreams..... Smile

stiv loves me! stiv loves me!

stiv, I've never questioned your sexuality. If I ever did, I apologize. I would have only done that for grins. I play the room for laughs.

And for the record....by "human contact" I wasn't limiting it to just physical contact.

Though in stiv's case, I might make an exception. Razz

stiv loves me! stive loves me! HeHe

I love you guys! You're serious dorks though, you know that, right?
Are you allowed to go back and forth like this? I thought is wasn't permitted. But I will say that this is just an example of what's most important...human contact!

Okay, I'm out. I've been called a bitch, old and now a dork all in one afternoon. All of them apply. But seriously, I'm working on a mind-numbing assignment right now (at least I'm supposed to be....) so I have to leave this little party laughfest. Thanks for the grins.

This has the potential to be a nice thread. Let's give it back. Caio!

The most important thing....

I'm going to rerail this thread cuz i think it's a good question. I agree with you candide about the authenticiy but i'm gonna throw in honesty, b/c i think it's just as important to be honest with yourself as it is to be honest with others.

Okay, continue with the bantering, i'm enjoying it Smile

Yeah, I second Stiv's thanks to you Sue! I definitely think honesty is important. For me authenticity is rather inclusive. To authentic means being honest. But god that's a hard thing to be. More so with yourself than with others, I find.
