my girlfriend and i are planning on going up to rishikesh in the next few days and were hoping to take a yoga course while we were there. we've never tried it before, so we would need to take a course for beginners... probably something 7 to 10 days long. can anyone reccomend a good place to take a course there? we hear that there are tons of different places to choose from so we were hoping to get advice!

on a side note, i read somewhere that rishikesh may not be the best place to study yoga since it is very commercialized now and i might be better to take classes in one of the many small towns nearby. any advice on that? or maybe a class in mcleod ganj?

Rishikesh is pretty commercial these days... I was pretty disappointed with the faux-deepness I found there, but it was a decent place to hang around doing nothing for a few days. I wanted to do some yoga courses but I never got around to it because they all seemed to be 10-30 day classes. I'm sure there were shorter options, but I didn't try that hard to find them.
