Do you believe in the possibility?

Has any one experienced this phenomenon?

This popped into my head after a very recent post

I typed an extensive explanation outlining why I posted this question and my experience with this subject, but then I deleted it. I do not think I am ready to lay down the intricate interior workings of my soul on the Internet. Hell I cant even open up to my friends

So does any one have any thoughts stories or hypothesis on the subject? Or am I just a crazy loon

I can relate. Before 9/11 many people had dreams that something was going to happen, including me. I've also....well freaky stuff here. if you want to discuss it further, let me know.

I am interested. Precognition has never been proven scientifically and yet tons of people scientists included believe in it. Its right up there with the mothmanm, aliens, UFO’s and the creation of the universe. I just picked this one because I think it happened to me maybe more than once or twice. But where do you draw the line? A feeling that something bad will happen vs. an overwhelming feeling that something bad is going to happen vs. actually dreaming or seeing (pre conceiving) the actual event. I have scientific minded friends that beleive the body is just mattter and nothing more. They put up a very strong argument. I have to beleive there is more there. Purhaps George Lucas really was not that far off. A force where we are all connected. Or are these feelings and dreams just sneek preveiws from a greater being

There are many mysteries in this world. but only one great mystery that we know nothing about is the brain and what it is capable of

i don't recall actually having a precognotive dream as you call it but i have in the past had what i call inter reality dreams which mimick actual reality to the point that when you wake up you feel like you were awake the whole time.

an example of an inter reality dream i had was when i dreamt that i was lying awake in bed yet i was paralyzed and could not move whatsoever so i tryed to get my brothers attention from downstairs but he couldn't hear me over the music he was listening to.after i woke up from the dream it seemed although i was awake the whole time due to the fact that i was in the same place doing the same thing as in the dream only i was no longer paralyzed.

in the end i think there is definitley something supernatural to dreams aswell as the human brain as a whole.another topic about the human brain that i find interesting is the way certain plants and mind expanding substances actually seem to connect you with the spirit world and other forms of conciousness.

My mother is pretty sensitive to this kind of thing. While there have been many pre-cog dreams, the one that I can think of that actually came true happened years ago. My parents were on a camping trip. My mother woke up from a dream and said, "We have to go home." She had a dream about a pushing a little blond-haired baby girl on a swing. My parents were going through the very long and agonizing adoption process. They had been waiting for months to hear if they were going be parents. They went home and moments after walking in the door the phone rang. It was the adoption agency calling to say they had a baby for my parents. She turned out to be a little blond-haired baby. About a year later my mom lived through the moment she dreamed, right down to my sister's little dress.

Weird.

Ya this stuff blows my "MIND" I have experienced inter reality dreams as well I think. I went to sleep and when I did my little brother was watching T.V in the next room. I slept for about 40 minutes and the whole time I was still conscious of him and the T.V sounds. I dreamed I was having a heart attack. When I tried to wake up I just could not open my eyes as hard as I tried it was as if I was trapped in the dream. In the dream my eyes where open but consciously I knew they where not, then all of a sudden they popped open the dream was over and I was fine. My bro was still watching T.V and all was normal. The Kicker was, did I dream that I could not open my eyes or could I really not wake up? It’s absolutely mad when you have a line like that between reality and your subconscious and you cannot decipher between the two and they become mixed up into one single experience. It boggles my head I wish I could record all of my dreams and then go through em and figure them out… or at least try

This is how I felt after my heart attack dream. when I could not open my eyes it was like a paralysis type of feeling. I felt so helpless it was scary

Mind expanding/ altering. I concur. It would be wicked if we could find away to increase our brains chemical out puts with out depleting them over time thus making us happier in genrale and more in touch with one another

All of a sudden I feel like I am talking to myself.

I've had moments where I've witnessed things and thought, 'I dreamt that the other night'.

But my moments aren't so profound. Usually its pretty boring stuff, like seeing someone get up from a table at a restaurant and knocking over a glass.

But it always makes me wonder.

I'm not hear to be the naysayer, I just wanted to offer another perspective plus a facinating news story I read recently.

As far as precognitive dreams: The human brain is an amazing organ that scientists just barely understand. It is a terribly powerful computer and runs non-stop. I believe once you get the brain focused on a problem it keeps working on solutions and variations of a solution even if you are not conscience of it. It is quite possible that if you have been pre-occupied with adopting a child that it is quite logical you would dream of a child. When you actually see the child for the first time, your brain matches the dream to the face. I'm not saying this is what happened, but only a possibility.

About the dejavu phenomenon (which is very much the same thing we're discussing.): I recently read a very interesting news story on this. Everyone experiences this so that would mean we either all of psychic flashes (which is possible) or there is a physiological explanation. Some scientists have stumbled upon what they believe is the solution. The brain secretes a chemical that produces a sense of familiarity when you experience a known situation. This is what stops you from being shocked every time you walk into your apartment or when you see your girlfriend's face. You already know what those things look like because your brain says, "Hey you, we know that thing already. It isn't new." These scientists are speculating that perhaps occasionally this chemical is secreted by accident during new events. Thus something brand new happens to you but your brain is saying it is something you are familiar with and have seen before. Thus, you feel like you must have had some sort of psychic flash.

This explanation of dejavu does take away some supernatural mystery, but is still very interesting.

All this aside, I won't deny that there could be forces at work we don't understand.

ugh, I shouldn't have used that term.

they have a ........sense. They are psychic. There are stories of police going to them to find missing persons.

Not that I'm an expert, but this is getting on something super complicated. I've heard stories of people (this is friends) dreaming of events that occured later, like fires and plane crashes. Some people can just read others and events really well, which can be a good or bad thing.

I really enjoyed your post Skobb I like to view all perspectives. I like to believe that there are supernatural forces at work in our world and every time we discredit supernatural theories with science it allows the supernatural seekers to move on to other possibilities and theories. I do not think we realize yet how close science and the supernatural may be related.

On another note. Are you seriously telling me that Bruce Willis was dead the whole time? I actually do not pick up on foreshadowing all that well and did realize that until the end

Laura M I am with you I think that some people are more inclined to feel and or pick up on things than others

After reading that post I now realize how obvious and silly this sentence is. Given that the supernatural is science Stooges

Laura,

I'm just picking on you. I understood what you meant. Although, I still feel that the explanation of dejavu that I came across could explain certain "precognitive" dreams. It depends on the situation though. If you see a plane crash and then remember dreaming about it, then it could very well be your brain playing tricks on you and just thinking it has seen it before. Now, if you have the dream and then wake up and write down specific details of the dream and then it later comes true, that is harder to explain.

p.s. Yes, Bruce died at the beginning of the movie when he was shot.

Skobb,

I appreciate your sceptical point of view and respect science for all the advances of the world. Otherwise we'd be blaming Hale-Bop for 9-11.

However, if you've ever spent any time with someone who is even remotely psycic, you might just change your mind. My mother is only mildly sensitive, but even that little bit of extra sensitivity can give you chills. She picks up on things long before the thought has occured to the rest of us. She has, "feelings" about people even ones she reads about. She'll do things that seem bizarre at the time, but then a few minutes or hours later make perfect sense. I've just learned not to question it anymore. It happens. Science can't yet explain it and even seeks to discredit these happenings. I don't.

have you noticed birds and animals in general, seem to know hours or days in advance when it's going to rain? THey don't watch the weather report I assume. But I see birds flying away frantically hours before it's going to rain. Some people are that way, too. I know I suck at predicting it.
Like when the tsunami happened, afterward, the people searching for bodies were expecting to find animal corpses everywhere, but there were extremely few. I heard a story about elephants breaking out of their pens and running for the hills.....maybe they heard something, felt something we didn't?
I used to have dreams all the time about the water, when I lived on the beach. Like what it would be like: stormy or calm. Well, anyway, it can be attributed to a lot of things.
