i was very young when i started to seriously delve into spiritual books and aspects of life, probably around 14 or 15. took my first 10 day meditation retreat when i was 16, and was the youngest one there. i found it very difficult to relate with others in my age group, as they were doing things that kids that age generally do. in this way, i've never really felt in place, and i suppose that is why i seek to travel so much. i don't know why im like that, but im finding pieces of myself i didnt know, everywhere i happen to be, just at the right moments.

when did spirituality interest you, and did that affect your travels or decision in pursuing it? feel free to add/ask anything. look forward to seeing what comes up. Smile

Welcome to these boards beyourmuse. I also was about 14-15 when I started asking the big questions.

On The Road by Jack Keroack and several books by Herman Hesse kindled the flames. Narcissus and Goldman was a favorite one.

Feeling like the odd man out is common amonst seekers. When you find anyone that you can relate to on a higher level...rejoyce in that moment, for it is rare.

These boards were actually created with you in mind...so always feel free to bring up topics of interest to you!

I'm very curious to hear more on you and your revelations.

Do you keep a journal or cronicle of your personal & spiritual development?

Why not add your first insight as well... to prime the pump for others to follow!

If you are truly interested in others accounts, go to the "Ask oldhippy" thread herein and a story of mine on that topic starts on Page 1 and continues on Page 3 of that thread.

How did you find us here?

glad to be here old hippy, and finally glad to have met you after reading a few of your interesting posts!

i found this place on the course of my search in finding ifo on travelling abroad, solo. read a few posts and felt i really found what im looking for right now.

at first i was mainly into books like, the "conversations with god" series, which took me in one direction of thought, then i ran into a booked called "illusions" by richard bach, in which i felt most intune with. i'll have to check into those books you mentioned sometime.

i haven't really kept a journal or anything like that, it's just never really settled with me all too well, as there's nothing much that i can't feel more comfortable remembering. however, i can realise the benifits of keeping such a device, maybe in the future.

i suppose the first revelation i learnt first hand through experience was that anything is possible, and i mean anything. as long as you have some sort of faith and make the choices necessary to make it happen, it will unfold, unexpectedly most of the time.

i've already posted a few things on this board, so feel free to check 'em out to get a better idea as to where i stand, as i will check out that thread you created.

well, i must be off, take care, see you around the bends.

I started "wondering more" some time over two years ago, (17-18) and having gone down that path find that you may occasionaly feel out of place amongst those who once felt close. However, its nice to have the energy, good times are had by all, and a smile is ear to ear.
