I have that same fear of lease signing!!!! I don't know what the min lease is by you, but it's a yr out here. I loved my apartment, but I HATED putting my name down on that lease for a yr commitment. My rent was $1550 split by two people, and it hurt!!

In Halifax they make you sign a year lease - either a May to May or a September to September. I'm actually going back into residence so I can avoid signing the lease - I just hate the idea of being hemmed in and committed. When I need to find a place to actually live in fourth year, I'm either going to try and sublet for both months or I'm going to try and get into university owned housing. Or, if the need arises, talk a landlord into doing month to month, which is, apparently, possible. I was talking to someone about it at work and I've discovered that I think I have a huge issue with commitment. Everything that I do is done to avoid commitment... I'm wondering if this is going to continue to manifest itself throughout my life or not!

First, chances are that the $1550, was for a one bed room.....that's how NY is..and that is why I just can't bring myself to live there, as much as I love the city...
As for the committment thing, I think that I am starting to feel that way myself...but maybe it is posible to have it so that you don't have to necessarily be tied down. Meaning have less bills...less material possessions, etc...
Maybe it all about balancing things out a bit...
Dunno....

It's really amazing how hard we have to work just to break the bonds that our society has created for us...
I was having this discussion with myself last night, even...
Once I discovered that I was free to be whatever and be whoever and do whatever...It was totally liberating, but then I dicovered that the responsibilities and challenges were pretty monumental.
It's taken me almost a year to get myself in order for this trip i'm starting in Nov..and I'm barely gonna be able to last long without work. uggh uggh.
Screw leases, screw bills, screw rent and utilities and gas and library fines!
lets all move to canada and build a hippie commune and make Moe it's resident hippie god.

If it's anyone who should be immortalizd, it should be you....perhaps in the form of a statue. Now which do you prefer...bronze, ice, metal or cheese for your statue..?
