If you are on a personal or spiritual quest and would to be part of an experiment, Oldhippy would like to hear from you.

I am interested in offering a workbook type experience, [that you fill in the answers to].

Your only investment in this is, a blank spiral notebook, and whatever time you want to apply to it.

This experiment is based on the following premise:

The "answer" is there, for all who seek it.

This journey begins with a question.

All you need to do, is to think it through.

The question this experiment will attempt to answer?

By addressing, all the questions in this process, will clarity and understanding follow?

Or...Is it possible to speed up the process of "getting it", [which is: coming to an understanding or sense of peace or acceptance of life], by asking...thinking about and then answering specific questions to life?

This experiemnt is only a process. It is not intended to do the work for you.

This workbook would only include asking the key questions and a short reason why they are being asked...you provide the answers, with any personal contribution you care to make to it.

You move at your own speed, and simply share any feedback on it.

For example: if you found the assignment productive or not?

Or...What came up duing the process?

The goal is:

To create a greater realization or understanding of yourself, in relationship to the universe.

A greater sense of peace of mind, sense of well being, or "grounding" with the universe.

A progressive course of action, towards greater personal and spiritual growth.

If you're up for the challenge, please give a quick intoduction into who you are, and where you are at in the growth and awareness process so far?

Looking to get started as soon as we have a few interested souls!

Any questions? Ask away!

.

I really like what your doing here oldhippy. I have a great deal of respect for those who attempt to help others on their spiritual journey. good luck---and if i can help...lemme know. personally i feel like i've reached the goal of acceptance and understanding, but i wouldn't mind trying to be there for others.

Hi
I'd be very interested in more info about your experiment. I'm about to head off on a RTW trip next month. It's the first time I've travelled alone and I'm a bit nervous. I am hoping that my travels will help me learn a bit more about myself and what I ultimately want from life - something I have no idea about at the moment, your experiment sounds as if it might be an excellent starting point.

hey----ummmmm i'm workin and hangin out here...I was livin in LA for a while and needed to get back to small towne life for a bit. I really dig this town a lot...except for the "attitude" of northern californians. It's better than so-cal for sure, but I'm a midwesterner at heart and am used to people being honest for the most part---it seems that people here just aim to please all the time. And everything is on a metaphysical level--which is really annoying. i mean, these are the same people telling everyone else to free their minds, but they're stuck in one frame of reference themselves, and see anyone else's point of view. and they feel justified in doing so which is all the more frustrating...
ummm, so somehow this turned into a vent session.
what were we talking about?>
oh, Arcata. it's great...you should come visit if you get the chance...I'm here till august 2nd.
peace,
grey

To Hils and all who seek!

If you are truly interested, in this experiment, get a spiral notebook, to use as a personal journal.

The first part is simply taking a personal inventory of what you think and feel about life, and your life in particular.

Give one page to each topic. Skip a page between subjects...[So you can use more pages if needed.]

1. List all your likes/dislikes

2. List everything you'd like to do in this lifetime.List all wants hopes dreams fantasies, goals, desires. Leave nothing off.
List everything you want to see, experience, study/learn, in this lifetime.

Just make the list. There is no need to prioritize, at this time.

3. List all people who have had an influence shaping/affecting your life. Put a + or - next to their name if they have had a positive or negative influence on you.List the reasons why.

[On the following items, Go with what you know. Use your imagination, if you don't have a clue, at this time.]

4.List your current philosophy on life, in a page or less. Keep it simple!

5.Define the term: God..."from your point of view."

6.Define the purpose, or meaning of life.

7.Describe the term: "Truth". List all that you know is true.

8.List any/all natural laws you know of,that affect your life.

9.Descibe the term: Love. List what you love.

10.List your strengths/weaknesses.

[Start with these and we will grow the list as you report back].

As you make new discoveries and create new awareness on your journey, include them in your journal!

Via Con Dios!

Hi,
this sounds interesting. I'm in a similar position to Hils, had some radical changes take place in my life and am now taking off by myself on a 1 year trip around Australia. I was going to write an "on the road journal" anyhow, so doing this experiment might be interesting as well. Give me your e-mail and we can get on touch.

I'm glad I had a chance to take grey cat up on his offer, before he set out on his world trip...Thanks grey cat!

I've come to the conclusion this particular post's "taking inventory format" may seem like a lot of work...or is really, just too much of a burden.

Therefor, if any of you have created a journal to reflect or work out your thoughts and feelings in...

What topics or questions are you presently dealing with?

Lets deal with more topical issues that are important to you!

oldhippy,

I'm obviously fairly new to this site (but hooked), so I'm not certain if you are still interacting with people about this experiment, but I would love to have a deeper look at it and give it a go... are you still there to have an exchange with? Let me know. I will likely do it either way. Really thoughtful.

That's where I've been lately. I find the stages in life fascinating. The instant you think you really know yourself and are happy in that moment, there is a major shift and you must begin again. Or, perhaps you were only ever at the beginning. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from you.

I want to bump this up to the top again, as I'd like to see if anyone here right now is interested in doing a current life inventory.

Follow the instructions and share any feedback on anything that comes up for you!

I did something like this 1/2 year or so ago, but I feel like I have more clarity now, and it is probably an exercise everyone should do throughout their life.

So...I'm up for it too! It will be my new project here at work!! Sweet! Smile

(Based on the depth of the questions, I know it will take a good couple of weeks; perhaps I can get it done before greece)

Oldhippy,
I will definitively start this project. I feel like my life is going nowhere. I do not have a notebook with me right now, but as soon as I get one I will start with the basic questions.
