Dear Mr. Old Hippy,

My name is Chris Blake, I grew up in Fraser Lake, and recently became introduced to the Column as of last night during some late night perhaps bud induced surfing while searching for some like minded adventurists.

For the last couple years I have been working in northern alberta and bc, for PTI Premium Camp Services, working my way up from a camp attendant to a maintenance guy. Currently I am in central BC, enjoying some days off from the bush, it seems like everytime I make the drive back home I am seeing people and being seen through different eyes. I suppose the time for reflection and thought (as well as time and hard work) have turned me into a pretty well rounded young Man.

I know my life is good, I like to make people laugh smile and have a good time, try to make positive changes around wherever I go, my personal journey to self reflection started a a couple years ago with Michael Crichton - Travels, furthered along by positive affirmations book, the celestine prophecy, what the bleep do we know, and assorted coincedencal happenings with new ways of thought learned/practiced along the way.

I had the urge to go to Vancouver island and meet up with some like minded hippy types these next few days, but instead did not go on the bus today, as something in me decided to wait for another month, perhaps take another tour in the bush. I suppose as another solution I will head out into the bush around these parts, with old friends and good times for all, (perhaps bud induced as well).

I suppose my question or pondering thought these last few days, is how do you keep a straight face and stay on the path, while not getting disillusioned, when you find that some of the people you choose to share with thoughts and aspirations, (people cared about, perhaps old friends and family) your thinking about the spiritual way of life, perhaps the direction you want to further it, they might maybe sorta bum you out? (sorta)

Well, things happened to turn out swell indeed.

And now my vacation winds to a close, spent my time strengthening connections, creating new ones, recharging back home in Fraser Lake.

It is about time to head back to work, having lots more to think about and some good adventures on the horizon.
