Hi guys.

I was wondering if somewhere in your combined memories you might know of any retreats in Chile, or in Argentina sort of near Santiago, or further north in Peru, Bolivia or Ecuador.

I have had an interest in religion and philosophy for the last 15 years, and I am not particularly attached to any type of retreat. I guess I consider myself to hold buddhist values and have retreated at both ashrams and buddhist temples from various traditions in Australia.

I am keen to continue exploring retreats as I move through South America. I am in Santiago and I have picked a poor season for southern Chile so I will probably wander in a more or less northerly direction up to Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador. I have no particular time limits.

I am not necessarily looking for "sit and do nothing" relaxing retreats - I am quite happy to help with work, just as much as being on a meditation retreat.

Do you have any suggestions? (I am female, 27 years, traveling solo)

Thank you very much :-)

I recently did a search for ashrams in SA and didn't come up with much. This organization (www.dhamma.org) does offer some 10 day Vipassana retreats in SA though the instructions will likely be in Spanish.

Probably your best spot is Cusco, Peru. You'll run into more crystal wavers there than anywhere. I've seen some of the tours and they are hilarious. Best on is the one that goes to Sacsayhuman. About 80% of the group is made of over the hill women(lots of special ed teachers). The guide/shayman/souvenir vendor does a great job explaining how the stone circles are energy rings. Has the old broads line up on the circles to be revitalized. Actually, they are the foundations of the original water tanks in the fortress. Several places offer San Pedro trips. San Pedro is a cactus rich in mescaline. Just be sure your group is going to drink the stuff. One outfit, that was featured on National Geographic, blew the stuff up your nose. Screws the sinus. If you happen to be in Guatemala in about 2 more years I should have my ashram open on Lake Atitlan. I currently specialize in aura readings and channeling. Once at the lake I'm adding alien encounters and fasting. Also going to have the only restaurant on the lake with authentic deep pit BBQ.
