Holds PhD in Packing |
So I'll be in London for a week in June, and it just so happens that my travel partner is quite wealthy. I've been to London on a shoe-string budget a few years ago and did all the basic stuff and was just wondering if anybody knew of some high-end activities that I could request that we take part in. I'm 25, and my partner is 57 (more on that in a later post).
Any expensive ideas?!? (restaurants are covered, so perhaps outdoor activies (helicoptor rides?), bars, shows, etc.) |

Bars
Lounge-lover: bit of a drag to east london but one of the best bars in the whole city without a doubt. Madonna had her birthday party there recently. Pricey, exclusive (you need to reserve beforehand) and definitely high-end Other bars to check out - Light Bar in St Martins Lane hotel, the bar at the Sanderson, You can do helicopter rides and hot air ballooning across london (google them). Also horse riding in Hype Park or go for a SPA treatments at the Mandarin Oriental in Khightsbridge (voted the best SPA in the world). Also see what concerts are on during your week - there are some big bands playing at that time. Dont worry if the tickets are all gone as you could pick up tickets from Ebay or from a ticket agency (and pay through the nose for it) Other things to consider during that time and it does depend on which week you are there are Wimbledon tennis tournament, Henley regatta, cricket test match, races (Ascot, etc). For all of these you can pay to get a exclusive service. If you have money London is a great place to visit and lots of fun |

Shopping on Bond Street followed by high tea at the Ritz (make sure you are wearing shoes and a shirt). Or you could go to the tea dance on a Sunday afternoon at the Waldorf. Private cruise down the Thames.

Apparently 'The Dorchester' has won the Tea Guild award for best place for afternoon tea in London in 2007.
Also, I've heard a lot of good things about 'Petrus' at The Berkeley, Wilton Place, Knightsbridge which I'd love to try for dinner.. but only if someone treats me.. (goodness knows who) next time I return to UK! Have a look at:- www.viewlondon.co.uk For more ideas on clubs etc. |

Petrus is great but if your going into that territory expense wise you should go to Gordan Ramsey (either in Chelsea or at Claridges). You may struggle to get in at this late notice though
